Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has launched AgentPay, a revolutionary tool designed to facilitate collaboration between various AI payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This innovation addresses the long-standing problem of these systems' inability to communicate with one another, which has hindered merchant adoption.
By providing a single integration point for multiple protocols, AgentPay simplifies the process for merchants to accept payments from AI agents. According to Alchemy's CTO, Guillaume Poncin, "AgentPay solves the issue of fragmentation by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us and receive a new endpoint, enabling any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it." As a key player in the Web3 ecosystem, Alchemy is often referred to as the 'AWS of Web3' due to its comprehensive infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications. By positioning itself as a translation layer, AgentPay enables the routing of instructions without directly handling funds.
With the anticipated growth of agentic finance, which is expected to dominate online payment activity, Alchemy's AgentPay is poised to play a crucial role in facilitating micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents and humans. Following a private beta launch, Alchemy plans to release AgentPay to the general public in the coming weeks.
