According to Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.

Witt, who serves as the executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, indicated that several other issues are being addressed behind the scenes. In a recent interview, Witt expressed hope that the compromise reached on stablecoin yield will be durable and hold, as resolving this issue was a prerequisite for addressing other outstanding matters. The Clarity Act has faced several potential obstacles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector.

While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been settled, he noted that considerable progress has been made in the background, and many issues that once seemed insurmountable have been resolved. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.

A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on the matter, depending on their proximity to the technology, and some may be more positive or threatened by stablecoins.
