The rise of quantum computing has sparked concerns about the potential vulnerability of legacy blockchains. However, experts believe that XRP's architecture makes it better equipped to withstand quantum attacks than Bitcoin. XRP operates on the XRP Ledger, a decentralized, open-source blockchain that facilitates cross-border transactions. A recent audit found that approximately 300,000 XRP accounts, holding around 2.4 billion XRP, have never sent funds and are therefore quantum-safe by default.
In contrast, Bitcoin's exposure to quantum threats is significantly higher, with around 6.9 million BTC vulnerable to attack. XRP's key rotation feature and escrow functionality provide additional protection against quantum risks, whereas Bitcoin's lack of these features leaves holders more vulnerable. While the threat is still largely theoretical, experts agree that XRP's design and features make it less susceptible to quantum attacks than Bitcoin.
