Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify a compromise that will facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.

In a recent interview on CoinDesk TV, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will endure. "We're hopeful that the compromise reached will be durable and hold," Witt said, adding that resolving this issue was a prerequisite for addressing other outstanding matters. The Clarity Act has faced several potential obstacles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt declined to specify which topics have been resolved, he noted that significant progress has been made in the background.

"We're very close to closing them out," he said, expressing confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on the issue, depending on their proximity to the technology.
