Nikita Bier, X's head of product, recently sparked interest with a statement that may be hinting at the company's future plans. In a post that garnered over 677,000 views in a matter of hours, Bier wrote, 'Crypto has had a tough year, perhaps it's time to introduce something new to address the issues.' This comes as Elon Musk's X Money is preparing to launch in April, featuring peer-to-peer transfers, bank deposits, a debit card, and cashback rewards, all built in collaboration with Visa and available in over 40 US states.

While the details of X Money's underlying infrastructure remain unclear, it has been described as a fiat-based product without any confirmed cryptocurrency functionality. However, the company has not explicitly ruled out the possibility of incorporating blockchain technology in the future.

The hiring of Benji Taylor, Aave's former Chief Product Officer, three weeks ago has also raised questions about the potential overlap between X's product and the crypto space. Bier has expressed admiration for Taylor's work, citing one of his previous products as among the best-designed he has seen.

As the launch of X Money approaches, the crypto community is left wondering whether this new product will compete with or complement existing cryptocurrency solutions, and whether it will ultimately incorporate crypto rails or remain a fiat-based platform.
