On Tuesday, the organization introduced a novel initiative designed to address a persistent challenge in crypto development - the prohibitively high cost of conducting thorough security audits for smart contracts. The foundation's 'Audit Subsidy Program' involves collaboration with top audit providers and ecosystem firms to make professional security assessments more accessible to developers.

With a $1 million subsidy fund, the program aims to reduce the financial hurdles that have historically prevented numerous teams from undergoing comprehensive audits, despite their importance as a best practice in the industry. This initiative is part of the foundation's broader Trillion Dollar Security Initiative, which focuses on bolstering Ethereum's security as it scales to support increasingly complex applications and larger amounts of value on the blockchain.

The program boasts an impressive array of partners, including Nethermind, Chainlink Labs, and Areta, and connects developers with over 20 reputable audit firms, streamlining access to trusted security expertise across the ecosystem. In conjunction with the program's launch, the foundation also unveiled a new framework known as the 'CROPS principles', which stands for censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security. This framework is intended to guide the development and evaluation of applications within the Ethereum ecosystem. Developers can submit their projects for consideration, and an expert committee will review the applications.

Selected teams will receive subsidies that can be applied directly to audit services via Areta's platform. The program is open to all Ethereum mainnet developers, regardless of project size or stage.
