Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has launched AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool designed to facilitate seamless interactions between various AI payment systems, including those developed by prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This novel solution addresses the long-standing problem of agentic payment systems being unable to communicate with one another, thereby requiring merchants to establish separate integrations for each protocol. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, 'The current situation is unsustainable and will only become more fragmented as additional systems emerge.' AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with Alchemy, which then provides a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it.
As a renowned 'AWS of Web3,' Alchemy offers the necessary infrastructure, developer tools, and node services to build blockchain applications. By positioning itself as a translation layer, AgentPay facilitates the routing of instructions without directly handling funds. This development is particularly significant in the context of agentic finance, which is poised to become a major component of online payment activity and often involves micro-transactions or nano-payments between AI agents and humans.
Following a private beta soft launch, Alchemy is planning a general release in the coming weeks.
