Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure utilized by numerous blockchains and companies, has launched AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool that enables AI payment systems from prominent firms like Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle to interact with each other. This innovation addresses the pressing issue of incompatibility between these systems, which currently do not support interoperability. As a result, merchants seeking to integrate AI agents into their customer base are forced to develop separate integrations for each protocol, a process that is unsustainable and prone to increased fragmentation as more systems emerge. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, "AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, providing them with a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it." Alchemy is often regarded as the 'AWS of Web3' due to its provision of essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications.

AgentPay promises to simplify the integration process by offering a single integration point for multiple protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402. By positioning itself as a translation layer, AgentPay routes instructions without directly handling funds, as emphasized by Poncin. The concept of agentic finance, which is expected to play a vital role in internet payments, involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents, often with human oversight in the background. Alchemy has initiated a private beta launch, with plans for a general release in the upcoming weeks.
