Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure for numerous blockchains and companies, has introduced AgentPay, a revolutionary tool that enables disparate AI payment systems from prominent firms like Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle to interact and transact with one another. This innovation addresses the long-standing problem of these systems' inability to communicate, or 'interoperate', necessitating merchants to develop separate integrations for each protocol. According to Alchemy's CTO, Guillaume Poncin, 'This approach is unsustainable and will only become more fragmented as additional systems are launched.' AgentPay offers a solution by allowing merchants to register their existing API, which is then provided with a new endpoint, facilitating payments from any agent on supported protocols. As a key player in the Web3 space, often referred to as the 'AWS of Web3', Alchemy provides essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications.

By positioning itself as a translation layer, AgentPay enables the routing of instructions without directly handling funds. This development is particularly significant in the context of 'agentic finance', which is poised to become a cornerstone of online payment activity, involving micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents and humans. Following a private beta launch, Alchemy plans to release AgentPay publicly in the coming weeks.
