Alchemy, a leading cryptocurrency infrastructure provider utilized by numerous blockchains and companies, has unveiled AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool that facilitates collaboration between various AI payment systems from prominent firms such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This novel solution addresses the pressing issue of agentic payment systems currently being developed, which lack the ability to communicate with each other. As a result, merchants seeking to cater to AI agents as customers are forced to establish separate integrations for each protocol, a process that is both unsustainable and prone to increased fragmentation as more systems emerge. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, "AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, providing them with a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it." As a widely recognized "AWS of Web3", Alchemy provides the necessary infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications.
AgentPay promises to simplify the integration process, supporting multiple protocols such as x402, MPP, A2P, and L402, while acting as a translation layer that routes instructions without directly handling funds. The emerging field of agentic finance, which is expected to become a cornerstone of online payment activity, often involves micro-transactions or nano-payments between AI agents and humans. Alchemy has initiated a private beta soft launch, with plans for a general release in the coming weeks.
