NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Securities and Exchange Commission is nearing the release of a proposed 'regulation crypto' that will outline its approach to overseeing the cryptocurrency industry, drawing a clear line between transactions that may be considered securities and those that are not, as stated by SEC Chair Paul Atkins on Monday. The proposed regulation, currently under review by the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, is focused on the Securities Act of 1933 and will address issues related to fundraising and startup exemptions. Atkins announced that the SEC also plans to introduce its long-awaited innovation exemption soon, seeking feedback on its functionality and potential problems.

The exemption aims to promote experimentation within a framework that does not disadvantage established companies, focusing on supporting startups. Atkins emphasized the importance of Congressional engagement in the upcoming election, citing the need for a supportive Congress to avoid hindering the SEC's rulemaking process.
