Alchemy, a prominent cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, has launched AgentPay, a innovative solution that facilitates collaboration between various AI payment systems from leading companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. The primary issue addressed by this tool is the lack of interoperability among agentic payment systems, which are currently being introduced. This incompatibility means that merchants seeking to integrate AI agents into their customer base must establish a separate connection for each protocol, a process that is not sustainable. According to Alchemy's CTO, Guillaume Poncin, 'AgentPay solves this problem by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, and we provide them with a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it.' Alchemy is often regarded as the 'AWS of Web3' due to its provision of essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications.
AgentPay promises to simplify the integration process by providing a single integration point for multiple protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402. By acting as a translation layer, AgentPay routes instructions without Alchemy handling the funds. The emergence of agentic finance, which is expected to play a significant role in online payment activities, involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents, often with human oversight in the background. Alchemy has initiated a private beta launch and plans to release AgentPay publicly in the coming weeks.
