Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that could facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.

In a recent interview, Witt noted that several key points are being addressed behind the scenes, in addition to the stablecoin yield issue. A recent compromise on stablecoin yield appears to be holding, despite warnings from bankers.

The executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets expressed hope that the compromise would be durable and hold, as resolving this issue was a prerequisite for tackling other outstanding problems. The Clarity Act had faced several potential obstacles, including protections against illicit financial activities in the decentralized finance space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. Witt reported that considerable progress had been made in negotiations, with many issues nearing resolution.

The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report by White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on stablecoins, depending on their proximity to the technology.
