In a bid to bolster the security of the growing cryptocurrency industry, the US Department of the Treasury has announced that it will begin sharing timely and actionable cybersecurity information with eligible crypto businesses. This move aims to help these companies protect themselves against an increasing number of cyber threats. The Treasury's Office of Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection will be responsible for disseminating this information, which was previously only available to traditional financial institutions.

Interested crypto firms can reach out to the office to participate in this free service. This development follows a recommendation from the President's Working Group on Digital Asset Markets, which emphasized the importance of information sharing in mitigating cyber-attack risks. According to Luke Pettit, Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions, this initiative will contribute to a more secure and responsible digital asset ecosystem.

The cryptocurrency sector has long been vulnerable to malicious hacks, with significant funds and data being stolen every year. Recent incidents, including a $280 million theft from the decentralized platform Drift, have highlighted the need for enhanced security measures. By extending access to high-quality cybersecurity information, the Treasury hopes to promote a safer and more regulated digital asset environment, addressing concerns that have been raised by US lawmakers.
