Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify the compromise that will propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the U.S. Senate. In a CoinDesk TV interview, Witt expressed optimism that the stablecoin yield compromise reached by key senators from both parties will endure, allowing progress on other outstanding issues.
He noted that resolving the yield issue was essential before addressing other concerns, including illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and restrictions on government officials profiting from the crypto sector. Witt confirmed that significant progress has been made in the background, with several issues already resolved. The Clarity Act requires a Senate Banking Committee markup hearing before a final Senate vote, which was delayed earlier this year due to bank lobbyist objections to stablecoin yield.
Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on stablecoins, depending on their proximity to the technology, and expressed confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved.
