Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has introduced AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool designed to facilitate collaboration among various AI payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This innovation addresses the pressing issue of these systems' lack of interoperability, which has resulted in merchants being forced to develop separate integrations for each protocol. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, "The current situation is unsustainable and will only become more fragmented as additional systems emerge.
AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, and we provide them with a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it." As a key player in the Web3 ecosystem, often referred to as the 'AWS of Web3,' Alchemy offers essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications. AgentPay promises to simplify the process by requiring only one integration for every protocol, supporting protocols like x402, MPP, A2P, and L402. "We serve as the translation layer, routing instructions while never directly handling funds," Poncin explained.
The emergence of agentic finance, anticipated to become a major component of online payment activity, often involves micro-transactions or nano-payments between AI agents, with humans potentially involved in the background. Alchemy has initiated a private beta soft launch, with plans for a general release in the coming weeks.
