Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has introduced AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool designed to enable various AI payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle to integrate and function in tandem. This innovation addresses the current lack of interoperability between agentic payment systems, which are becoming increasingly prevalent. Previously, merchants seeking to accommodate AI agents as customers were required to establish separate integrations for each protocol, a process deemed unsustainable. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, 'AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, and we provide them with a new endpoint, enabling any agent on any supported protocol to make payments through it.' As a widely recognized 'AWS of Web3,' Alchemy provides essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications.
AgentPay promises to simplify the process by offering a single integration for multiple protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402, with Alchemy acting as a translation layer that routes instructions without touching the funds. The emergence of agentic finance, anticipated to become a significant component of online payment activity, often involves micro-transactions or nano-payments between AI agents, with human involvement in the background.
Alchemy has initiated a private beta soft launch, with plans for a general release in the coming weeks.
