Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has introduced AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool that facilitates the integration of various AI payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This innovation addresses the longstanding problem of these systems being unable to communicate with each other, thereby requiring merchants to establish separate integrations for each protocol. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, "This approach is unsustainable and will only become more fragmented as new systems emerge." AgentPay resolves this issue by enabling merchants to register their existing API, which is then provided with a new endpoint, allowing any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it.
As a widely recognized "AWS of Web3," Alchemy offers the necessary infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications. By positioning itself as a translation layer, AgentPay enables the routing of instructions without Alchemy directly handling funds. This solution has the potential to revolutionize agentic finance, a sector expected to become a major component of online payment activity, which often involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents and humans.
Following a private beta soft launch, Alchemy is gearing up for a general release in the coming weeks.
