The Securities and Exchange Commission is on the verge of unveiling a regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency industry, aiming to clarify the distinction between securities transactions and non-securities transactions. According to SEC Chair Paul Atkins, the proposed 'reg crypto' is currently under review by the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, marking the final step before its publication. The forthcoming regulation will primarily focus on the Securities Act of 1933, addressing issues related to fundraising and startup exemptions.

Atkins also hinted at the upcoming release of the long-awaited innovation exemption, which will provide a framework for experimentation without unfairly disadvantaging established companies. The SEC Chair emphasized the importance of congressional support, encouraging the audience to participate in the upcoming election to ensure a favorable regulatory environment.
