Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has launched AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool that facilitates collaboration between various AI-driven payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This new solution addresses the long-standing problem of these systems being unable to communicate with one another, thereby requiring merchants to establish separate integrations for each protocol.
According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, "This approach is unsustainable and will only lead to further fragmentation as more systems emerge." AgentPay resolves this issue by providing a single integration point for multiple protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402. By registering their existing API with Alchemy, merchants receive a new endpoint, enabling any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it. As a key player in the Web3 ecosystem, often referred to as the "AWS of Web3," Alchemy offers essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications. AgentPay functions as a translation layer, routing instructions without directly handling funds.
This innovation is expected to play a crucial role in the emerging field of agentic finance, which involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents and humans. Following a private beta launch, Alchemy plans to release AgentPay to the general public in the coming weeks.
