Following the removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi, Todd Blanche has been appointed to lead the US Department of Justice, as announced by President Donald Trump. Prior to this appointment, Blanche served as Trump's attorney in a New York criminal case and later became deputy attorney general after Trump's re-election in 2024.

Notably, Blanche disbanded the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team, established under the previous administration, and issued a directive to prosecutors to refrain from pursuing regulatory cases within the cryptocurrency sector. This move had significant implications, including the dropping of a charge against Roman Storm, a developer of Tornado Cash. Furthermore, according to a government ethics disclosure dated July 10, 2025, Blanche transferred his cryptocurrency holdings to family members, including Bitcoin, Solana, ADA, and Ethereum. The disclosure also mentioned his holdings in Polygon, DOT, Quant, and Coinbase stock.

However, it has been reported that Blanche still held these assets, valued between $159,000 and $485,000, when he signed the enforcement memo, raising concerns about potential ethics violations and conflicts of interest.
