Alchemy, a leading cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, has launched AgentPay, a revolutionary tool that enables AI payment systems from prominent companies like Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle to interoperate. This innovation addresses the existing problem where agentic payment systems are unable to communicate with one another, necessitating merchants to establish separate integrations for each protocol. According to Alchemy CTO Guillaume Poncin, 'AgentPay provides a solution by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, and we provide a new endpoint, enabling any agent on any supported protocol to make payments through it.' As a key player in the Web3 space, Alchemy is often referred to as the 'AWS of Web3' due to its provision of essential infrastructure, developer tools, and node services for building blockchain applications. AgentPay ensures seamless interaction between various protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402, by acting as a translation layer that routes instructions without Alchemy handling the funds.
The emergence of agentic finance, which is expected to play a significant role in internet payments, involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents and humans. Alchemy has initiated a private beta launch, with plans for a general release in the coming weeks.
